Jean Ward - Physiotherapist - March 2003

Staff, interns and students from the Mother and Child Care Unit recently organised the first paediatric workshop to be held at CRP.

After welcoming the eighty or so multi-disciplinary audience, Hoseneara, Manager of the Unit gave a brief resume of the work carried out in the ten bedded centre. Other presentations followed: Therapy Through Play; Differences Between Treating Adults and Children; Feeding and Drinking; Hyper Hypo Sensitivity in Children.

After a tea break during which there was much informal discussion, the programme continued with talks on Cerebral Palsy; Children with Down’s Syndrome and Autism.

The afternoon was rounded off by a demonstration showing how static positions are linked together. Several students were involve in efficient general organisation.

It was felt that the afternoon had been a success and that it would pave the way for further paediatric workshops.
