International Spinal Cord Injury Day celebrated at CRP

International Spinal Cord Society (ISCoS) and Asian Spinal Cord Network (ASCoN) observed the 4th International SCI Day on 5th September 2019 with the theme “Live life to the fullest”. To observe the day, CRP organised a rally including SCI people from CRP-Savar to Shimultala in the morning of 5th September, 2019 which was followed by a discussion session on causes, consequences, management of spinal cord injury and ensuring inclusive life for persons with spinal cord injury at the Reddaway Hall at 11 am. A total of 200 wheelchair users participated in the rally. There was also a cultural programme where persons with SCI participated.

Md. Jubayer Rahman, Asst. Commissioner, Land, Savar Upazila was the Chief Guest of the programme. The special guests were Dr. Sayemul Huda, Health and Family Planning Officer, Savar Upazila; Dr. Kazi Ayesha Siddika, Health and Family Planning Officer, Savar Pouroshova; Dr. Luis Garcia, Head of Spine unit, CHUAC Hospital, Spain;  Professor  Dr. Omar Ali Sarker, Principal, Bangladesh Health Professions Institute and Gazi Ashraf Ali, Vice-President, Spinal Cord Injuries Development Association (SCIDAB). The programme was chaired by CRP’s Head of Administration, Md. Shahidur Rahman.

CRP also organized a 2 days sports competition for the spinal cord injury patients.
